Season boundaries are approximate by nature. Swell windows and the Milky Way's season are known to the month, not the day, and are marked that way. Meteor peaks, jellyfish windows and supermoons are computed to the night. Supermoon has no formal astronomical definition, so we use the original one: a full moon within 90% of its closest approach in that orbit. The distance is printed beside each so you can apply your own.

What you won't see this year
- No solar eclipse is visible from here in this window, and none for years: the next one over the Big Island is November 14, 2031, and it is partial.
- Any other lunar eclipse this year is penumbral from here: a faint shading across the disc, not the blood moon the photographs promise, and often hard to see at all with the naked eye. Look up if you are out anyway; it is not worth an alarm.
